CHILD DEDICATION/BAPTISM

We are so glad that you are interested in our baptism and child dedication class.

The baptism and child dedication class is for people who are considering three different possibilities:

Child Dedication (Expression of a Christian PARENT'S faith)

The act of dedicating children to the Lord was a common practice of blessing among the people of God in the Old and New Testament periods. In addition, it was also a statement of recognition on the part of the parents that their child really belongs to God.

Child Baptism (Expression of a Christian PARENT'S faith)

Infant baptism serves as a special means of God’s prevenient grace and an ushering in of the infant into God’s family.

Neither dedication nor baptism of a child produces salvation. The child must still choose to follow Jesus Christ later in his or her life. In both cases, the parents and church body are challenged with the same expectation of supporting the child in his or her spiritual growth process.

Baptism (Expression of PERSONAL faith)

Baptism is seen as an outward sign of an inward transformation. The grace and love of Christ calls us into a relationship with God. Baptism is a public response to God's love and an outward expression of the decision to follow Jesus.
